Dublin, Ireland

Brief

The client, an art director, purchased a tired, carpeted, two-storey penthouse. They wanted it transformed with contemporary, gallery-like spaces, but were limited by a modest budget. They did not want to reinstate carpets but were unsure of an alternative that would meet the acoustic regulations of their freeholder.

Solution

Stephen Ball ensured the budget worked hard. The kitchen features stainless steel units from Ikea with matching non-integrated appliances. This was treated to a bespoke walnut worktop as a warm counterpoint to the stainless steel. Stephen Ball specified black rubber flooring throughout the entire property as a solution to the acoustic requirements. The material is quiet underfoot, practical, hardwearing, and flows seamlessly between the hall, bedroom, bathroom, kitchen and living room. It was excellent value, and afforded the entire property the look demanded by the client.
